Aileen Gorman
Executive Director

Aileen Gorman has more than 30 years experience in business. Since 1999, she has been Executive Director of The Commonwealth Institute - a not for profit organization whose mission is to help women entrepreneurs, CEOs, and senior corporate executives build successful businesses.

Previously she was a senior executive for The Stop & Shop Companies and Bradlees, where she specialized in crisis communication and public affairs. She managed investor, customer and media reactions for such explosive issues as product tampering, contagious diseases, downsizing, the sale and closure of operating divisions, a hostile takeover attempt and a leveraged buyout. She also designed financial communications strategies, investor presentations and collateral materials for such events as Initial Public Offerings and rating agency presentations and has traveled domestically and internationally to orchestrate analyst/ investor/ management forums.

Earlier in her career, Ms. Gorman was the national spokesperson for Anheuser-Busch Inc., a founding Director of the Food Safety Council, a public/private partnership in Washington D.C. , and Executive Director of the National Consumers Congress, a nationwide lobbying organization. She is a past Trustee of Boston University Medical Center Hospital, the Massachusetts Taxpayers Foundation, and the South Boston Neighborhood House. She is currently on the Board of the St. Francis House - the largest day shelter in Boston .

 

Abby Tracy

Director of Member and Sponsor Relations

Abby Tracy joined TCI in October 2007 as Director of Member and Sponsor Relations. In her role at TCI, Abby's main responsibility is to develop and manage relationships with Commonwealth Institute members and Corporate Sponsors to ensure delivery of the promise to offer a forum for executive-level learning of the highest quality and networking opportunities.

Abby came to TCI from Boston College , where she worked as an Assistant Director of Annual Giving. At Boston College , Abby recruited and managed a volunteer committee for a successful 35th Reunion Gift Campaign and solicited annual gifts at the $1,000 level and above. Prior to her work at Boston College , Abby spent almost two years working at the Greenwich Hospital Development Office in Greenwich , CT , where she served as an event coordinator for the hospital's many successful fundraising events. During her tenure at Greenwich Hospital , Abby successfully developed and managed relationships with key donors and community members to increase participation in the special events programs and to exceed ambitious fundraising goals.

 

A graduate of Hamilton College, Abby currently serves on the Hamilton College Alumni Council and chairs the Hamilton Boston Alumni Association GOLD (Graduates of the Last Decade) committee.

 

   

 

Emily Sweeney

Program and Membership Coordinator

Emily Sweeney, Program and Membership Coordinator at TCI, is a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, where she graduated with an honors degree in English and a concentration in writing and editing.  During her time at Holy Cross, Emily spent a semester in Melbourne, Australia , where she conducted research for her senior thesis on postmodernism and hiked across Tasmania. 

Upon graduation, Emily moved to New York to attend Columbia University, where she studied advertising and marketing. 

Emily assists in the implementation and execution of TCI's programming and events and works along with Pat to grow TCI's membership base. This includes developing and maintaining the Institute's website, databases and marketing materials as well as providing membership support and working to plan and execute TCI's informational programs as well as large fundraising events.

Emily is also a volunteer at Horizons for Homeless Children, an organization that provides regular childcare and programming for famillies in Boston-area shelters.
