Lunch and Learn on November 12

TCI to host the second Leadership Luncheon program on November 12, 2009.

After receiving overwhelmingly positive feedback from its first Lunch & Learn seminar, The Commonwealth Institute (TCI), the leading business group for women CEOs and business owners in the Boston area, is excited to be hosting the second seminar in the series titled “The Power of the Leader Brand” on November 12, 2009 at the Doubletree Guest Suites in Waltham.

The seminar series evolved out a new leader mentoring program TCI introduced to Boston called the Leadership Accelerator Program (LEAP). LEAP builds leaders through an innovative “leader mentoring” program. Aspiring leaders are mentored by accomplished executives who facilitate the emergence of each participant's own unique “leader brand,” which defines how they engage followers, build relationships and sustain commitments to accomplish great things.

Leader mentoring contrasts with traditional leader training in focusing on one's mastery of their character development as a leader. It helps the aspiring leader to more fully realize how to access their life values, experiences and passion in developing an authentic way to lead that others will follow. The first seven participants started the program in June and the next group will begin the LEAP program in March.

As a way to share their personal breakthroughs and powerful stories that surface through this process, TCI developed the series of interactive Lunch & Learn seminars that are open to the larger community. The TJX Companies, Inc., one of the largest public companies in Massachusetts, is excited to be sponsoring this series as their way of supporting the development of leaders in the community.

Participants in the Lunch & Learn seminars take part in abbreviated versions of the leader discovery exercises that LEAP mentees experience in the 8-month program. Attendees will also hear the personal stories from a dynamic business leader and hear about the first-hand experiences from a mentor and mentee. The speakers for the November 12 lunch include:

Celia Clancy, President, AJWright

Leslie Kagan, Owner, Kagan Associates and LEAP Mentor

Debra Mariniello, Director, Copyright Clearance Center, LEAP Mentee

The Lunch & Learn seminar is $45 for TCI members and $60 for non-members.  More details about the lunch, including a link to register online, can be found by clicking here

LEAP bases its approach on the Arch of Leadership program, which is based in Albuquerque, NM and facilitated locally by Bonnie Gorbaty, President of Inner Resources, Inc. and Program Director for LEAP.
