The Commonwealth Institute provides high-quality programs and events throughout the year to help our members achieve success.  The programs touch on a number of relevant business issues and always have an interactive networking component.  We open our programs and events up to the larger Boston business community as well.

    Commonwealth Forums for Nonprofit Executive Directors, Presidents and CEOs

    Our first nonprofit forum launched on June 23, 2009. Our 2nd nonprofit forum for women CEOs, Executive Directors and Presidents is launching January 2010, and is designed for 10-12 women who have been leading a nonprofit organization in the $1M-$10M+ revenue range. The ideal participant is a women leader who has a passion for personal, professional and organizational growth. More information available here:

    Commonwealth Forums for Sole Proprietors

    The Commonwealth Forum for Sole Proprietors is designed for 8-10 women from non-competitive industries. The ideal participant is a women business owner who wants to: expand business; tackle the unique challenges facing sole proprietors; strengthen leadership skills; and connect with experts and peers around the opportunities and challenges of managing in these difficult economic times.

    Commonwealth Forums for CEOs

    Each Commonwealth Forum for CEOs provides a confidential, non-competitive environment for 8-10 female chief executives to meet monthly to share challenges and develop growth strategies. The Forums are professionally facilitated and provide members with access to expert resources as needed. Meetings are scheduled a year in advance and become an integral part of each participant's work life. There are currently tenCEO Forums running.

    Commonwealth Forums for Senior Executive Women

    Our Commonwealth Forums for Senior Executive Women bring together women across non-competitive industries to address business challenges, career aspirations, and professional growth. Forums meet face-to-face for a half day, six times a year, in professionally facilitated sessions. TCI currently runs a Forum for Senior Human Resources Executives.

    Educational Seminars

    Educational seminars address current business issues with dynamic speakers, interactive formats, and relevant, actionable business strategies. The seminars are held throughout the year, either as morning or evening programs. Past seminars include “A Survivor's Guide to Succeeding in a Troubled Economy” and “Inspired Leadership: Insight From Women Leading Business into a Brighter Economy.” These programs are always open to the public and TCI members and sponsors can take advantage of discounted, and sometimes complimentary, registration.

    Leadership Accelerator Program

    TCI's Leadership Accelerator Program, also known as LEAP, is an intensive eight-month program, focusing on the development of creative and authentic leaders. Using the “Arch of Leadership” program, aspiring leaders are guided through a self-discovery process and work individually with a Leader Mentor in capturing a deeper understanding of themselves as leaders. The experience is further amplified through four meetings with all Mentors and Mentees who gain a shared experience that strengthens their individualized learning.

    Annual Top 100 Study and Celebration

    Each year, The Commonwealth Institute conducts a study that identifies the Top 100 Woman-Led Businesses in Massachusetts, based on company revenues. When this ground-breaking study was initially released using 2000 revenues, it provided the first in-depth look at woman-led businesses in the state. This annual event, hosted by The Commonwealth Institute, celebrates the achievements of these business women.

    Commonwealth Conference for CEOs

    Breakfast for Champions

    Our signature annual fundraising event, the Breakfast for Champions brings together over a thousand executives to celebrate the entrepreneurial spirit and to hear the insights of influential women leaders.  Past speakers include Gloria Steinem; Ann Moore, Chairman & CEO of Time Inc.; and Linda Kaplan Thaler, CEO & Chief Creative officer of The Kaplan Thaler Group.

    Business Rhythms: A Speaker’s Forum

    This forum brings together over 400 attendees to hear an author highlight current business trends by discussing his/her book and participating in a lively Q&A session.  Recent speakers include Evelyn Murphy, author of Getting Even: Why Women Don’t Get Paid Like Men and What To Do About It, and Rosabeth Moss Kanter, author of Confidence: How Winning Streaks and Losing Streaks Begin and End.
