Maggie
Rodriguez
Maggie Rodriguez joined CBS4 in
August of 2000 as co-anchor of CBS4 News at 5:00, 6:00 and 11:00 P.M.
She arrived at the station from KABC-TV, the number one-rated station
in Los Angeles, where she co-anchored the midday news every weekday and
co-hosted the popular weekend magazine show, "Eye on LA." Maggie
was also a field reporter, covering everything from earthquakes and mudslides
to celebrity trials and the Oscar's. She's been honored for her work,
both here in South Florida and in Los Angeles, with six Emmy Awards.
Maggie began her career in journalism in 1989, working behind-the-scenes
as an assignment editor, field producer and associate producer at WLTV-Channel
23 in Miami. In 1990, she landed her first on-air job at a small, Miami-based
cable station, where she wore many hats -- reporter, anchor, photographer
and editor. Her first big break came in 1991, when Maggie was hired as
a reporter for Univision, the nation's largest Spanish-language network.
She worked for a number of programs over the years, including "Hablando,""Noticias
y Mas,""Primer Impacto" and "Noticiero Univision."
In 1994, Maggie made the cross-over to English-language news in Los Angeles.
After six years there, she decided it was time to return home to South
Florida.
Maggie was born in Miami to Cuban parents. She grew up in South Florida
and graduated from the University of Miami with degrees in Broadcast Journalism
and Spanish. Maggie, who resides in Miami with husband Michael, says she
is elated to be back home, living and working in the community she loves.
Maggie has a passion for travel and languages. She speaks English, Spanish,
Italian and French.
