The College of Business Administration at Florida International University and The Commonwealth Institute undertake a study to discover what distinguishes those women who have made it to the top in Florida-based organizations.
Nationwide, only 3% of top positions in organizations are filled by women although 50% of professional and managerial positions are held by women. What distinguishes those women who have made it to the top in Florida-based organizations? That is the focus on a new study being undertaken by the College of Business Administration at Florida International University and The Commonwealth Institute. In this study, we will survey women who are the senior executive or primary owner of companies or corporate subsidiaries with at least $1M in revenues or 25 employees. Key areas to be explored include the women's backgrounds, career progression, work habits, life choices, and motivation, along with their approaches to business strategy, operations, leadership, and personal development. A list of the top woman-led companies will be made public along with an analysis of what it takes for a woman to make it to the top and the set of issues related to life at the top that she must address.
